Yiouvetsi With Beef From Santorini Island

Ingredients:

  • 1500 gr beef (shoulder)
  • 1 can condensed tomatoes
  • 1 large onion, finelly chopped
  • 4 tblspns olive oil & extra 1/2 teacup olive oil
  • 500 gr kritharaki (barley shaped pasta)
  • grated salty cheese
  • salt
  • pepper

Rinse the meat with fresh water and cut into cubes. Put it into a lidded pot and add the condensed tomato, the onion, the 4 tblspns olive oil, salt, pepper and two cups of water. Cover and bake in the oven for 50 minutes at 200 Celsius degrees. Then lower the heat at 160 degrees and cook for 60 more minutes. When the meat is cooked add the kritharaki and two cups of water. After 20 minutes, pour the 1/2 teacup olive oil, cover again and keep baking for 15 more minutes. Serve and season with grated salty cheese.
