For the burgers:
- ½ kg minced beef
- ½ kg minced lamb
- 3 onions, grated
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- 3 tblspns breadcrumbs
- 10 mint leaves chopped
- 2 eggs
- ground allspice
- salt
- black pepper
- ½ teacup milk
- 1 tblspn margarine
- 1 tblspn butter
For the garnish:
- baked barbecue pies or tortillas or pitas
- 1 onion chopped
- ½ bunch parsley, finely chopped
- 1 sliced tomato
- paprika (sweet red pepper)
- 1-2 lemons cut into pieces (can also be used to season the burgers)
In a large bowl, add the minced beef, the minced lamb, the onions, the mint, the eggs, the breadcrumbs, the allspice, the salt, the black pepper and the milk and knead well for several minutes. The dought shall be soft, if not add some milk while kneading. Place the doght in the fridge for one hour. Prepare your grill, you need low heat. Divide the dough into 10 pieces and knead them into burgers. In a pot, melt the margarine and butter with a pinch of salt. Place the burgers on the grill and start cooking. By the time they have reached a slightly to brown color, smear them with the help of a brush with butter and continue cooking. In the meantime place barbecue pies or tortillas or pitas on the grill and bake them too. When the burgers are well done serve them in the centre of a plate surrounded by the baked barbecue pies or tortillas or pitas and lemon pieces and season with the onion, the parsley, the tomato and the paprika. Accompany your meal with a cold beer and enjoy!
